INSPIRATION FOR RESILIENT ENTREPRENEURS

Mountaineering Is Exhausting but Awesome. Here Is Why I Do It

And there are some interesting parallels between mountaineering and entrepreneurship.

--

It’s a beautiful day during the summer vacation.

My alarm goes off at 02:30 am.

We have a quick breakfast and set off at 03:00 am.

We walk through seemingly endless steep moraines in the dark.

The air is crisp, I hear the wind, I still feel the sleepiness in my legs, and I am having some random thoughts while walking in the dark.

What sounds like a strange way to start a vacation day, is pretty normal for mountaineers. When ascending the high peaks in the Alps, you need to get up early.

I did so last week when I climbed Alphubel, a high peak near Zermatt, Switzerland. We set off at 2,200 m above sea level, climbing a windy ridge to reach 4,200 m above sea level 9 hours later. And back down again, all on the same day. The total trip took 14 hours and left me bruised and tired, but happy.

Why The Hell Do I Do This To Myself?
